One Last Cheers Before Takeoff: Beer #4983 at Heathrow’s Virgin Clubhouse

From the Desk of JT, the Beer Logger (B-Logger)

  • Mission: 50 Beers to 5000
  • Beer #: 4983
  • Location: London Heathrow Airport ✈️
  • Beer: Virgin Atlantic 40th Anniversary Pale Ale
  • Brewery: Wimbledon Brewery
  • Vibe: Airport lounge luxury, reflective send-off
  • Mood: Grateful, tired-happy, content

🍺 Beer #4983: Virgin Atlantic 40th Anniversary Pale Ale (4.0)

Beer #4983 was properly and comfortably imbibed in the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at Heathrow Airport, before boarding the flight home.

And honestly?
That makes it even better.

This wasn’t a rushed, tray-table beer.
This was a lounge chair, deep breath, “we really did that” beer.

A fitting closer.

JT Lounge Pint Breakdown:

  • Drinkability level: High, dangerously smooth for pre-flight
  • Setting synergy: Excellent — lounges improve everything
  • Mood match: Reflective without being sad
  • JT rating: 4.0

A fantastic collaboration between Virgin Atlantic and Wimbledon Brewery, and easily one of the better airport beers you’ll ever have.

🌍 The Trip (Still Unreal)

This holiday covered serious ground:

London → Stonehenge → Bath → Lacock → London → Glasgow → Edinburgh → London again.

Bucket list items checked.
New cities explored.
Historic streets wandered.
And an impressive quantity of excellent beer responsibly (mostly) consumed.

From:

  • The Bermondsey Beer Mile
  • To Richmond’s Ted Lasso energy
  • To breakfast beers in Glasgow
  • To underground tastings in Edinburgh

Every stop delivered something memorable.

🎥 The Beer Video Experiment (Round One)

Massive credit to Lori, who pushed me to finally start recording beer videos on this trip.

The results:

  • 35+ videos recorded
  • 33 used
  • A few filmed when I was… generously over-served
  • A few that were objectively terrible
  • All of them fun

I didn’t use scripts.
Maybe I should have.

What I learned:

  • My favorite word is “great”
  • Which is… really great 😄
  • Verbal variety is officially on the to-do list

I may be slightly tired of seeing myself talk about beer — but that feels like a good problem to have.

And knowing friends and family are following along?
Genuinely appreciated.

✈️ Why This Was the Right Final Beer

Ending the trip in the Virgin Clubhouse felt right.

Not rushed.
Not sad.
Just calm, satisfied, and quietly proud of the journey.

Beer #4983 wasn’t about novelty.
It was about closure.

A pause before boarding.
A final toast to:

  • Miles covered
  • Beers logged
  • New ideas tested
  • And memories stacked high

🍻 JT Final Thoughts

This wasn’t just a vacation.
It was a creative run, a beer crawl, and a reminder that saying yes to new projects usually pays off.

Here’s to:

  • My Loving Wife
  • Better scripts (maybe)
  • Fewer uses of the word “great”
  • And many more beers still ahead

Cheers! 🍻
