Hilton Head Brewery Crawl: Beer #4996 Finds Liquid Gold
From the Desk of JT, the Beer Logger (B-Logger)
Mission: 50 Beers to 5000
Beer #: 4996
Location: Hilton Head Island
Beer: Liquid Gold
Brewery: Side Hustle Brewing Company (at The Bank Beer Garden)
Vibe: Brewery hop meets coastal night out
Mood: Loose, local, and fully in the groove
🍺 The Setup: A Night Built on #DrinkLocal
Leaving Savannah, Georgia wasn’t easy. Such a great time, including one of my first logged beers in the state of Georgia. Savannah is on the border of Georgia and South Carolina, with Hilton Head only 50 minutes away. After picking up my rental car, I had a choice to make. Should I add a South Carolina beer (or maybe several) to the b-log? After all, my beer journey is about fun, travel, new experiences, and new beer. The decision was easy.
So, the early afternoon trek to Hilton Head began. I’ve only been once, for a long golf weekend, and it was years before I caught the craft beer bug. I did catch the Hilton Head bug and was glad to be back, even for a day.
There are days with specific beer goals. And then there are days like this — where you chase the local scene and let the beer find you.
Beer #4996 was all about that philosophy.
No overthinking. No rigid plan. Just a commitment to:
👉 Support local. Drink local.
And Hilton Head? It delivered across the board.
🌴 The Crawl Begins: Setting the Tone
We didn’t ease into this one — we rolled into it.
First stop:
🍻 Hilton Head Brewing Company

A staple. A tone-setter. A place that says, “Yeah, you picked the right town today.”
The first stop is always a great spot to try a flight. And HHBC had a solid variety to choose from. My flight included dark lager, aptly called Slainte. St. Patrick’s festivities were not done. Add a Hazy IPA, a Session IPA, and a Fruity Sour. Consistent taste and presentation, on all levels. I’d go back again, without a doubt.
Beers were flowing, conversation with the bartender was friendly and easy, and there was just enough buzz in the taproom to signal this day had potential.
🍻 Stop 2: Momentum Builds
Next up:
🍻 Lincoln & South Brewing Company

This is where you start noticing the variety Hilton Head brings — not just in beer, but in atmosphere.
And that’s when you realize…
👉 This isn’t just a stop. It’s a crawl.
🍻 Stop 3: Fully in the Groove
The last two stops were at the newer, larger, flashy breweries in town.
🍻 Local Legend Brewing Company

We were officially there.
You know the moment:
- Nobody’s checking the clock
- Every stop feels like the right stop
- The laughs come quicker
- The beers go down easier
That’s the sweet spot.
🏦 Final Stop: Where #4996 Was Waiting
And then…
We landed somewhere that just felt different.
🍻 Side Hustle Brewing Company at The Bank Beer Garden
A beer garden. Night settling in. Lights overhead. Energy just right. Side Hustle Brewing. At The Bank Beer Garden.
And sometimes… you can feel it:
👉 This is where the featured beer is going to happen.
🍺 The Beer: Liquid Gold (The Name Fits)
The Bank committed to the metaphor and the results are impressive. This place is huge. Someone invested serious capital to make it happen. I like subtle. And I like hit me over the head. Both can work. This hit-me-over-the-head approach works.

Liquid Gold stepped up and claimed Beer #4996 without forcing the issue.
Gimmicky, yes. And very tasty. No over-the-top complexity. Just a beer that hit exactly right in that moment.

🎉 The Real Story: One Beer, Four Stops, Zero Regrets
Let’s not pretend this night was about just one beer.
It was about:
- Multiple breweries
- Different atmospheres
- A steady build from stop to stop
- And a final landing that just felt right
Beer #4996 gets the spotlight…
And it was earned through the entire night.
⚓ The Bigger Picture: Hilton Head Shows Up
Hilton Head doesn’t always get the same craft beer spotlight as some bigger cities.
Then come nights like this.
They remind you:
👉 The scene is real.
👉 Breweries are delivering.
👉 And if you show up ready to explore… you’ll be rewarded.
This was a no-weak-link crawl.
That’s not easy to pull off.

Beer #4996 didn’t come from chasing hype.
It came from showing up, moving around, and trusting the process.
Four breweries. One night. One beer that sealed it.
And just like that…
We’re staring down 4997… 4998… 4999… 5000 👀
