Go Pack Go: A Party Weekend in Dallas and Beer 4992 in Deep Ellum

From the Desk of JT, the Beer Logger (B-Logger)

  • Mission: Having a blast, with beer!
  • Beer #: 4992
  • Location: Dallas – Deep Ellum
  • Beer: Cesqueña Dorada
  • Brewery: Unión de Cervecerías Peruanas Backus y Johnston
  • Vibe: Reunion tour meets football chaos
  • Mood: Proud dad, cold beer, zero itinerary (allegedly)

🛬 The Reunion Tour Begins

Some trips are about the destination.

Others are about who’s already at the airport bar when you land.

I flew into Dallas to meet my longtime partner-in-crime, Ted Wood — marking Year 2 of our “let’s-follow-the-Packers-on-the-road” party.

Waiting for me? Ted… along with his daughter Rachael and nephew Chris — already posted up at an airport bar like seasoned professionals.

No texts. No directions. Just lots of laughs.

And this year’s X-factor?

My son Spencer, rolling in from Austin, where he’s been making it happen in tech sales at Dell Technologies.

Yeah… proud dad. Not even pretending to play it cool.

Add him into this crew and suddenly this trip wasn’t just fun — it was locked-in, guaranteed memory territory.

🚗 No Itinerary… (Sure, Ted 😏)

Now here’s the twist:

Ted was “in charge” of the weekend.

Which meant… no itineraries allowed.

And if you know me — part-time planner, full-time “hey I’ve got an idea” guy — you know that’s a bold rule to enforce.

Ted claims no itinerary.

But let’s be honest… he runs a mental itinerary, and I run a suggestion-based consulting service that somehow often gets accepted.

Case in point:

My first suggestion:
👉 Community Beer Company

🍺 Oktoberfest Kickoff at Community Beer Co.

Massive space. High energy. Zero regrets.

And we hit it at the perfect time — Oktoberfest was rolling.

  • Steins everywhere
  • Brats flying off plates
  • That perfect “this day is about to escalate quickly” feeling

We posted up, grabbed beers, crushed some food, and let the laughs start stacking early.

This was the warm-up. And we all knew it.

🎨 Deep Ellum: Murals, Music & Mild Trash Talk

After a quick hotel reset, it was off to:

👉 Deep Ellum

Deep Ellum doesn’t try — it just delivers.

Murals everywhere. Music everywhere. People everywhere.

First stop:

👉 Dot’s Hophouse & Cocktail Courtyard

Ted immediately spotted a photo op in front of their massive beer list — because when there are 100 options, you document it like a man on a mission.

Inside: stained glass, vintage charm, and bold Texas quotes.

Including this all-timer:

“We are the only major city in America not founded on a port or navigable river. What others needed the ocean to accomplish, WE DID WITH SWEAT.”

To which I say:

Of course you did, Dallas. Bless your heart.

Perfect pre-game energy for a Green Bay Packers fan in Dallas Cowboys territory.

🍺 Stop 2: Ruins Bar & Beer 4992

We wandered. Snapped mural shots. Let the afternoon stretch out the way it should.

Then we hit:

👉 Ruins

And here it was…

Beer 4992: Cesqueña Dorada

A Peruvian lager showing up in Dallas like it had been invited all along.

🍻 JT’s Take

  • Crisp Level: High
  • Complexity: Not the point
  • Crushability: Elite
  • Moment Fit: Absolutely nailed it

This was a “don’t slow down the day” beer.

Light, refreshing, and built for:

  • patio hopping
  • storytelling
  • and whatever stop comes next

🚶‍♂️ Keep It Moving

Because of course we did.

Next up:

👉 Westlake Brewing Company

More beers. More laughs. Zero checking the time.

At this point, the day had officially entered that perfect blur where everything just works.

🍺 Dallas Doing Dallas Things

We also hit:

👉 Katy Trail Ice House

An absolute must. Big outdoor energy, cold drinks, and a crowd that knows exactly why they’re there.

And then…

A boot store.

With free beer.

I’m still thinking about that one.

🏈 Game Day: Jerry Went All In

Destination:

👉 AT&T Stadium

Pre-game outside the stadium was next level.

We’re talking full production:

  • Huge crowd
  • High energy
  • Cowboys cheerleaders
  • And… oh yeah… a live set from Whiskey Myers

Not just any band — a big-time, Texas-loved, crank-it-up-and-let-it-roll kind of band.

At that moment, it became very clear:

Jerry opened the wallet.

And honestly? Respect. The man knows how to throw a party.

Also spotted:
👉 A gentleman in a “Piss on the Packers” t-shirt

Subtle. Very subtle.

🏟️ Inside the Action

Thanks to Ted — unreal seats.

And the game?

40–40. A tie.

As they say in the south:
👉 It’s like kissing your sister!

Exciting? Yes.
Satisfying? Not even a little.

But from a viewing standpoint?

Non-stop offense. Big plays. Edge-of-your-seat action.

And the stadium itself?

“Jerry’s World” absolutely lives up to the hype.

🍻 JT’s Rating: Beer 4992

3.5 / 5.0

Simple. Crisp. Reliable.

A perfect supporting actor in an all-star weekend.

🎉 Final Thoughts: The Real Win

Beer 4992 was good.

But this weekend?

  • Friends
  • Family
  • Watching your kid thrive
  • Laughing your way through a city that knows how to show off

That’s the good stuff.

No itinerary.
(…with just enough suggestions.)

From bar to brewery.
From murals to stadium lights.

That’s what this journey is all about.

Go Pack Go. Always. 🍺🏈

Thanks, TW. Cheers! 🍻
