Red Lasso & a Nashville Callback: Beer #4987
From the Desk of JT, the Beer Logger (B-Logger)
- Mission: 50 Beers to 5000
- Beer #: 4987
- Location: Nashville, Tennessee
- Beer: Red Lasso (American Red Ale)
- Brewery: New Heights Brewing Company
- Vibe: Thoughtful taproom pick before Broadway chaos
- Mood: Playful, selective, slightly Ted-inspired
🍺 Beer #4987: Red Lasso (3.75)
This 50 Beers to 5000 thing?
Not easy.
By the time I officially hit 5,000 unique beers, the real number might be closer to 7,000. That’s the beauty of being selective. Not every pint makes the blog. Some are great. Some are just fine. Some are victims of timing.
And if all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy…
All logging and no fun makes JT cranky.
So when I stopped into New Heights Brewing Company during my Nashville brewery hop, I gave myself options.
I first tried a beer called Damguday — which, honestly, was a perfect name for the moment.
But then I saw it.
And just like that, we were back in Richmond, UK.
🇬🇧 A Ted Lasso Flashback
If you’ve followed this journey, you know my affection for Richmond and a certain mustachioed coach from Kansas.
Seeing “Red Lasso” on the board immediately sparked memories of wandering the streets of Richmond, soaking up pub culture, and smiling at how a TV show could make a town feel even more magical.
Ted would absolutely approve of this decision.
Optimism.
Warmth.
Balance.
All wrapped up in a red ale.

🍻 The Beer: Light, Balanced & Smart Timing
Let’s talk strategy.
Lower Broadway was looming. Neon. Music. Momentum. Possibly questionable drink decisions later.
So going with a red American ale early in the day?
That’s wisdom.
JT Red Ale Breakdown:
- Style: American Red Ale
- Drinkability level: Very solid
- Body: Nice and light for the style
- Balance: Malt-forward but not heavy
- JT rating: 3.75
This wasn’t a hop bomb. It wasn’t a palate crusher. It was steady. Approachable. The kind of beer that says:
“Let’s pace ourselves. Big night ahead.”
It also reminded me:
👉 Drink more milds and lighter beers early in the day.
Even if I do love my IPAs.
🏙️ New Heights: A Must-Visit
New Heights Brewing Company is a legit stop when you’re in Nashville.
- Fantastic beer list
- Spacious, comfortable taproom
- A strong range across styles
- Local energy without tourist overload
Nashville continues to prove it’s more than just music and pedal taverns.
It’s a serious craft beer city — quietly confident, just like this red ale.
🎉 Selective Logging, Intentional Drinking
I made many stops that day. I could’ve logged more. Probably should have.
But this blog isn’t about volume.
It’s about:
- Moments
- Meaning
- The beers that feel right
Red Lasso felt right.
🍺 JT Final Thoughts
Beer #4987 earns its place.
A 3.75-rated reminder that:
- Names matter
- Timing matters
- And sometimes you choose the beer that tells the better story
Lower Broadway could wait a little longer.
Ted would’ve smiled.
Cheers! 🍺🤠
